New Building And Extension of School, Alemannenschule Wutoeschingen, Germany
Building specificationThe building is erected as massive construction, with basement. Ceilings and stilts are completed with site mixed reinforced concrete. The outer walls are built with vertical coring bricks. The plastered, thermally-compounded cladding is designed and dimensioned following the latest heat insulation ordinance for low energy standards.
Partly, the facade is clad with Eternit panels. The roof construction is made of viewable laminated wooden binders with steel suspension and the pent roof is covered with roof tiles. Thus, classrooms in the upper floor are offering an open view, up to the truss.
In the range of the auditorium and of the main entrance of the building, a pent roof with titanium sheeting was installed. For illumination, aluminium framed windows, thermally separated and equipped with heat-absorbing glass 1.1w/3,2ft.² K (1.1W/1m.² K), partly solar glass, are installed. Close to the hall, for optimum illumination in the classrooms, skylights are installed.
For achieving optimal acoustics, punched plaster ceilings are installed, with acoustic insulating mats underneath. Under the pent roof, punched exotic-wood-sails with acoustic insulation mats underneath, were attached. The school is housing classrooms for special subjects, such as handicrafts, cooking, arts and stitching textiles. Traffic routes in the school building are accessible for handicapped. An open air “classroom” is set up in the courtyard.
